Ecosystem F.A.Q

Why decentralize the frontend?

Because smart contracts alone aren't enough. Centralised frontends remain a single point of failure for outages, censorship, and takedowns. Decentralising the frontend improves resilience and long-term availability.

Is it safe?

Yes, it's safe. We don't modify the application, we only replicate it on our cloud.

Can Aleph Cloud modify or take down these frontends?

No. Deployed frontends are immutable builds. Aleph Cloud cannot alter application code or arbitrarily remove deployments.

Is performance comparable to Web2 hosting?

Yes. Frontends are delivered globally through the network, providing fast load times and reliable access for users.

What's the difference with the core application?

There's no difference. It's the same application operating on different cloud providers or servers. We only replicate open-source applications on Aleph Cloud, the back-end is always operated by the owner of the application.

Do you take fees?

No. The service is totally free of charge for end users. However if you want to add your own application, service fees applies.

How are these frontends hosted on Aleph Cloud?

They are deployed on Aleph Cloud's decentralised compute and storage network, served by multiple independent nodes rather than a single server or provider.

Can I host my application's front-end on Aleph

Yes, you can host your dApp and we encourage you to do so. Go to your dashboard and follow the instructions to replicate your front-end, or migrate all your stack.
